Pain in the Neck!

When I came to THERAPY1ONE I just had major surgery. I was in a neck collar and could not move my neck. My goal was to be able to move it like before surgery (total movement).  I thought this may be a long time, but with the help of Josh, James, and Laura I have total movement to the right and I am about there on the left as well.

Thank you so much and I will continue to do my home exercises. God bless all of you love in Christ,

Robin

Professional Attitude and Concern with all her Patients.

A few weeks ago I had surgery on my right shoulder and thumb. The doctor recommended therapy for both, so since I have used THERAPY1ONE in the past with great success, I chose it again. When I arrived I wanted my nephew, James Cutchin to be my therapist. I have used him after both knee replacements and was amazed how quick I was able to return to a normal lifestyle. After talking to James he did not hesitate to tell me he wanted to do the therapy, but Kathy Pitts would be the best choice due to my thumb.

Mrs. Pitts could not have been better! My shoulder did not concern me much because I have had that surgery three times before and recovery was not a problem. My hand did concern me because I could hardly move my thumb or fingers. I did not expect my hand to be in that condition after surgery. I almost thought something went wrong and I would be messed up forever. Kathy Pitts assured me I would see progress, but it would take some time for complete recovery. She was right, I started seeing progress each visit and with the exercises she gave me to do at home I saw progress between visits too. I did not understand how what she had done was working, but it was and with great results. Kathy Pitts explained the procedures as she was working with my hand and I saw results with everything she had done. Kathy Pitts made me feel comfortable as she did with everyone I saw her helping. I am impressed and grateful to her for her professional attitude and concern with all her patients.

Once again if the need ever arises I would not hesitate to use or recommend THERAPY1ONE. From the time I entered the door till I left, I was treated like me and my problems matter. Please pass along my thanks to the entire staff and especially Kathy Pitts for helping me get back to a normal life.

Thank you!

                                                                         Sincerely yours,

                                                                         Rudy C.

Genuine Heartfelt Love for her Patients.

Many people in the world , for one reason or another find their true calling in life. I'd like to tell you about a very special woman who has found her true calling. Her name is Kathy Pitts, who is an Occupational Therapist currently employed at THERAPY1ONE located at 3210 Jenks Ave. Panama City, FL 32405.

I met Kathy as a patient in 2005, after my left wrist was replaced, as well as complicated tendon surgery due to my severe Rheumatoid Arthritis. l As soon as I met Kathy, I knew she was the Occupational Therapist for me. I say this because, as complicated as my recovery would be, she took an unbelievable interest in my case. She did not hesitate to call my Orthopedic Surgeon to fully understand the protocol he wanted her to perform with my wrist and tendons in order to achieve the very best outcome of my surgery. My surgery was snot one that was easily recoverable from because the Rheumatoid Arthritis was so severe, I had almost no use of the hand at all. With Kathy's help and unbelievable dedication to my case, the outcome was better than I had ever expected it to be.

Around 2006, I had to have my shoulder replaced because the movement was very painful, and my range of motion was decreasing  at a fast rate. Again, because of her dedication and caring, I had gone back to Kathy, because I knew that if anyone could get me moving my arm and shoulder again, it was Kathy Pitts.  Once again, Kathy did an amazing job with my rehabilitation. If I had any concerns or questions, she was readily available to speak to me. She did not hesitate to call me, or ask me to come in to discuss and address my concerns or questions.

Recently in 2014 I had to have my wrist replacement removed because of several fluid sacks that appear on  my hand, which has to be surgically removed, and my Orthopedic Surgeon, Dr. Steven Kronlage was afraid they would keep developing. He was not sure what was causing this other that the Rheumatoid Arthritis and there was other tendon issues he needed to tune up while he was taking the replacement out. He was the one who told me to go back to Kathy because I would need a special splint to support my wrist and my tendons while they were healing. Well, by this time Kathy had moved from her former place to THERAPY1ONE. I had to Google her name, but was able to find out she was at THERAPY1ONE. I did not want to go to anyone else for my therapy, because I trusted her completely, and I knew she was the best Occupational therapist in Panama City, and was the one person familiar with my surgery. This special splint that Kathy had to make for me by hand was the most complicated piece of equipment I have ever seen, and like before, she personally called my surgeon to speak with him about me and what exactly he needed her to make. We sent him a picture of it when she was finished , and he was amazed at her talent in making this specialized brace. Then, at my next visit appointment with him, he got to se3e it in person, he was very impressed with her talent.

This year, Dr. Kronlage will be putting my wrist replacement back in because it seems that the fluid sack have not returned since then, he will also be fixing my right index finger, and replacing the knuckle with a plastic one., because the arthritis has eaten away at it to where I am not able to make a fist and of course you know where I will be doing therapy. I would also like to say that my Orthopedic Surgeon has many patients that travel, as I do, from Panama City to Andrews Institute in Gulf Breeze, FL. for their surgeries. He recommends Kathy to all his patients that live here or close to here because he has seen her work first hand with me since 2005.0

Not only is Kathy great at her job, she truly cares about her patients in a way I have never experienced with any other therapist. She takes a special interest in everyone of them, not just me. It only takes one time meeting this amazing women to realize that she takes pride in her work, cares deeply for her patients, and has found her true calling in life. I will never go to another therapist other than Kathy because of her dedication to her patients, determination to see them heal and return to a pain free full life, and her  genuine heartfelt love for her patients.

Sincerely and Gratefully

Ms. Mary

Don't believe us..............Listen to our patients!

I recently has a full knee joint replacement and was very apprehensive about physical therapy, but Josh @ THERAPY1ONE made the journey  easier with his positive attitude.  Everyone @ THERAPY1ONE was always understanding and kind , even those days  when the pain was so intense and I did not feel up to therapy.

Thanks again Josh!

When I started THERAPY1ONE my lower back pain level was at an 8 or 9 out of 10 (10 being the worst).

Therapists Josh and Laura showed me special exercises that have decreased the pain level to a 2 or 3.  The physical therapy I received at THERAPY1ONE was great! There concern about the patients is very sincere and they did a great job of me. Very thankful for the knowledge of these therapists.

Thank you again,

Lola

I was seen by Dr. Michael Rohan Jr. and he diagnosed me with Sciatica  nerve pain and arthritis. He recommended physical therapy @ THERAPY1ONE. I have been amazed at the relief of my back pain and the small amount of time it took to notice a difference. I am forever thankful for Susie Garcia (PT) and Laura Smith (PTA) they are so nice and patient with you. Everyone there was great and I have a home exercise program to continue with.

I came for physical therapy on my back and was very pleased with the results.

The staff at the Jenks Ave. location are very courteous, friendly, knowledgeable, and professional. In the beginning I had my doubts regarding physical therapy as a cure for my frozen shoulder and thought it would require surgery, but after just a few sessions with Josh and Laura I was already getting my range of motion back. I have almost 100% painless range of motion in my shoulder and have been instructed on what I can do to continue my healing process on my own. The folks at THERAPY1ONE have made healing my injured shoulder a very pleasant experience. I very highly recommend THERAPY1ONE for your physical therapy needs.

Thank you,

James M.

My name is Nancy and I fell at work and injured my wrist. When I got in to therapy with Kathy I was very lucky. I was limited on the use of my hand which made it hard to dress and to do daily chores. Kathy was terrific, she would tell you what she was doing and talk to you so you were relaxed. I was released 2 sessions early and am back and ready to do anything!! I hope I never have to go back cause that would mean I have injured myself again, but Kathy is super!

I had hurt my right thumb at work and considered having surgery. I was assigned to THERAPY1ONE for therapy. I was a little hesitant when I arrived, but I was assured by Kathy and her confidence she displayed. She was not only professional, but also very knowledgeable about her work. I first arrived in severe pain and left with the ability to function without pain. I would recommend THERAPYONE and Kathy to anyone and everyone in need of Occupational Therapy.

 Thank you for your professionalism,

D. Gray

I feel very positive about my experience with THERAPYONE. The therapists were very helpful in teaching me the exercises to use to strengthen my back and hopefully prevent a recurring back problem.  If I ever need therapy in the future I will know who to call.

 Thank you,
Sarah D.                               Panama City, FL

I had knee replacement surgery @ after the surgery I went to THERAPY1ONE. I went from barely being able to use my knee to bending it real far without horrible pain. I also had low back pain for years and through THERAPY1ONE putting me in traction and exercises the pain is gone!

Just Tina

17 years ago I had back surgery. They removed 80 to 90 percent of the L5 disk…no fusion. The scar tissue was a natural disk. In December 2014 I started experiencing extreme back pain. An MRI was done and showed another protrusion at the L5 and now one at the L4 with arthritis. I started physical therapy at THERAPY1ONE and have completed it today.  I have the tools now to help me reduce the pain and build strength, good posture, and I feel so much better. I also joined the fitness center at THERAPY1ONE.

I want to thank Josh and Laura they have really helped me!

Knowledge and Skill!

The staff at THERAPY1ONE in Panama City are exceptional. My very first appointment with them I had just had surgery and needed a brace before leaving on a trip.  Kathy Pitts, the Occupational Therapist, came in early to work me in. Susan and Debra at the front desk were always caring and friendly, calling me by name every time I came in. I was also very impressed with the knowledge and skillset my therapist Kathy had, while at the same time remaining personable, friendly, and caring. Just can’t say enough good things.

Thanks for all you do!

Physical Therapy can Help!

  1. Reduce or eliminate pain - “Hands-on therapy or treatments such as ultrasound and electrical stimulation can help relieve pain and restore muscle and joint function to reduce low back pain,” Schimmer says. Such therapies also can prevent pain from returning.
  2. Avoid surgery - If physical therapy helps you eliminate pain or heal from an injury, surgery may not be needed. And even if surgery is required, you may benefit from pre-surgery physical therapy. “It will allow you to recover from surgery faster because you’re stronger prior to it,” Schaefgen says.
  3. Improve your mobility - If you’re having trouble standing, walking or moving - no matter your age - physical therapy can help. Stretching and strengthening exercises help restore your ability to move. “If needed, we also help fit people for devices like wheelchairs, walkers and canes,” Schimmer says.
  4. Recover from a stroke - It’s common to lose some degree of function and movement after stroke. Physical therapy helps strengthen weakened parts of the body and improve gait and balance.
  5. Recover from or prevent a sports injury - Physical therapists understand how different sports can increase your risk for specific types of injuries (such as stress fractures for distance runners). They can design appropriate recovery or prevention exercise programs for you.
  6. Improve your balance and prevent falls - When you begin physical therapy, you will get screened for fall risk. If you’re at high risk for falls, therapists will provide exercises that mimic real-life situations. Therapists also help you with exercises to improve coordination.
  7. Manage diabetes and vascular conditions - As part of an overall diabetes management plan, exercise can help effectively control blood sugar. “We can create an individual plan with the right mix of aerobic and strengthening exercises,” Schimmer says.
  8. Manage age-related issues - As you age, you may develop arthritis or osteoporosis or need a joint replacement. “Physical therapy can effectively keep older patients more mobile and fit them with the appropriate walking device if needed,” Schaefgen says.
  9. Manage heart and lung disease - While most patients will complete cardiac rehabilitation after a heart attack or procedure, you also may receive physical therapy if your daily functioning is affected.
  10. Help your child manage a medical condition, injury or movement problem - Physical therapy can help children with everything from improving fine motor skills to caring for neurological issues such as cerebral palsy to recovering from surgery.
